Frequently Asked Questions

What documents are required for IRP registration?

To set up an International Registration Plan (IRP) account, you must provide proof of residency (such as a utility bill or lease), a valid DOT number, an updated MCS-150, and legal ownership documents like a vehicle title or lease-purchase agreement.

How long does it take for plates to be processed?

For Illinois apportioned plates, the typical turnaround is 48 to 72 hours once we have all correctly signed documents. Processing times can vary slightly depending on peak seasons and state agency operations.

How exactly does fuel tax (IFTA) reporting work?

We consolidate your fleet’s mileage data and fuel purchase receipts for each quarter. TPLSI performs the underlying calculations and file submissions required by the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) to ensure you avoid fines and reporting penalties.

Can TPLSI handle commercial title transfers?

Yes. We manage the entire title transfer lifecycle, including tax form preparation and direct Secretary of State filings. This is especially helpful for growing carriers adding units that need immediate registration and plating.

Do you support owner-operators or only fleets?

Our services are scalable. We provide personalized support for independent owner-operators setting up their first authority and manage the ongoing compliance requirements for established fleets with multi-jurisdictional needs.
